Dacation

I wish that I was clever enough to have come up with that term. I recently heard it on the news in a story about vacations that you can take in just a day. But it is perfect for the days that the Day family spent together with Jamie home! With working and other scheduled events, we couldn't go too far. So we stuck close to home and had a great time. We started with breakfast at the lake. A little windy but yummy french toast casserole was perfect for our picnic. We then played games and rode bikes all before it got too hot.

(Sorry for the smallness...all the small pics you will see were emailed from Jamie.)

We then went back to my parents house to cook-out burgers for lunch. We ended our day at my aunt and uncle's house to swim in their pool and eat pizza for dinner. I've been in a pool recently but I hadn't had this much fun in a long time! I got my hair wet, sprayed water, chicken fought with Jamie and laughed so hard. I'm sad I didn't get pictures of this event, but I didn't want to take the time to get out of the pool to get my camera. After swimming we had a 4th of July cake since Jamie was in Africa over her favorite holiday. She is wearing the perfect shirt for her: "Proud to be an American"
She was "matchy" with our grandpa. We laughed when he had no clue what she meant by that word.

The next day we got pedicures with our mom and then went to Frontier City with my dad. On Mondays you can get in for 50 cents if you are/were in the military and so my dad couldn't pass up that deal. This was before we went. I wasn't about to document what we looked like once there. Luckily I went with people who already love me.

I know this may surprise some of you, but I don't do heat. So going in the middle of the afternoon when the temp had passed hundred degrees (It was SO HOT!), I was surprised at how much fun it was. We hardly waited in any lines and sometimes would get back on the ride as soon as we got off.

The next 3 days we went to my aunts house in Arkansas. It is always so fun. Watching cooking shows, reading magazines, and eating are our staple activities. Every time I'm at their house I spend a lot of time sitting at their bar watching my aunt cook and so this is the typical view.
On our way home we stopped by a Little Debbie outlet store. Everything is so cheap that you can't pass up buying a box or two...or 12! Raymond is always eating so much that I have to keep our pantry stocked. Last time I came home with Little Debbie treats they were all gone in no time. So this time I made sure that I stocked up, but am thinking that this supply will not last very long either. Luckily I'm not tempted by these treats or I would be in trouble. When I was showing Raymond what all I bought I stacked them up on our counter. I couldn't resist taking a picture.
I loved spending time with my family. We always have a good time and it was fabulous with Jamie here. Can't wait until November when she comes back home.

Farmers Market

I have always wanted to go to the farmers market. I don't really get excited about fruits and vegetables but I was excited about this because it was new. So my mom and I went out to the one in Edmond. We walked around the tables and looked at all the different produce. There were a lot of tomatoes and beans, which I don't eat, but I was able to fine some yummy things.

I love cucumbers and they taste better when they are mini like the ones I found. Cutting them up with a little salt makes a fabulous snack! The corn on the cob was delicious and I feel healthy with cantaloupe for breakfast. I couldn't be too healthy with the fruit, so I made a cobbler with peaches. Yum! I went to a farmers market and made a cobbler...how domestic!
(Raymond says that he will take me to the farmers market more often if it means I will make a cobbler!)

I love my MOM!

I haven't loved the whole having my gall bladder out process. Raymond has been perfectly perfect, but I have had a need for my mom too. And she has been out of town forever. This week she went to Falls Creek to help as a cook and so I decided that I would go see down to see her. It felt so good to get off my couch and get out of the house. I've been in a lot of pain and this was a great distraction to hang out with my mom and the other cooks. I loved listening to them talk and watch them work so hard. I decided to stay for dinner and they let me help serve. While serving, it was so interesting to watch the kids. The middle school kids were here this week, and they are so funny! It brought back some great memories of the (HOT) times that I spent at Falls Creek. Plus I hadn't been down there since all of the changes. It is so different with the new tabernacle. They had it locked so I couldn't go in but I'm sure that totally changes the experience for those sitting inside. You don't have to worry about splinters or sweat anymore!

I had a fabulous day! Sometimes a girl just needs her mom and I came home feeling great but exhausted!

ALSO...

Happy 30th Anniversary Mom and Dad!

My parents are an incredible example of a couple with a solid marriage. They are very much in love and I admire their dedication and commitment towards each other. Here's to 30 more years!

4th of July

We had fun celebrating the holiday at Raymond's aunt and uncle's farm in Weatherford. Games, great food and of course fire works!

We started out by setting off black cats. Well, wimpy me just watched.

And then we played this fabulous game called ladder ball. You toss two balls attached by a string in hopes for it to land on a rung of the ladder. Each rung has a point value and the team that reaches 21 points wins. I wasn't very good but it was really fun. Raymond's cousin made this and so I think it would be really fun for us to make one to have!

Look closely and you can see how the balls have landed on the rungs.

When it was dark everyone pulled out their fireworks. In my family we were always in the city and so we would go to the fireworks display that the city put on. So because I didn't have much experience and I'm wimpy I was happy with the sparklers. But the wind made those not fun so again I was content with watching. Here, they go all out with buying fireworks. So we had some really cool ones to look at.

Oh Baby!

If I had known yesterday that my friend Sarah from college is pregnant than I would have mentioned her yesterday too! I heard the great news today...congrats Sarah and Caleb!

I finally made it out of the house last night and went to POPS with Raymond's family. I hate that I can't hold Harrison. I don't think his super wiggly arms and legs would feel good to my stomach. Plus Raymond claims that he is over the weight limit for me. Whatever. We had a 45 minute wait and guess who had to hold him the entire time?

He did like to look at me though!

It's fun to watch him be hands on. A lot of men would rather just watch, or give the baby back when it gets fussy. (That's what I would do!) When Harrison got fussy he shifted positions, started to pat the bottom, and had him asleep in no time! I think it's kind of cool how the camera was able to catch the patting action. :)
Our conversation later that night:
Me: I was impressed with how you were with the baby tonight.
Raymond: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah, you were great. Does it make you want a baby NOW?
Raymond: No.
Me: (sigh of relief) Oh good. Me either.

My PG friends

I never heard the term 'PG' in reference to being pregnant until recently when it seems like everyone is having babies! It was great that everyone could come to my house for part of Danielle's birthday celebration so that I could participate and hear her exciting news! Yea for having babies. (everyone else that is!)

Unlce Mac

I know I am overdue for a new post. I had the thought yesterday that my two readers who check my blog regularly don't want to keep seeing the most depressing post. If anything I should put something more positive. Then my thoughts were confirmed when I read on a friends blog yesterday about her disappointment of checking blogs that are never updated. I feel the same way. Those who know me well know that I LOVE to read blogs. Some refer to it as blog stalking. It isn't much fun to go to the same blog over and over and see that nothing changes. And yet I do the same thing. Often though, I think I don't really have anything to write about. I don't have kids or a pet. But I do have a husband. And so I will write about him!

Our new nephew, Harrison Joseph, was born in May. We were so excited for the new addition. But I mostly got excited because Raymond was so excited. His grin was from ear to ear the day he was born. It was precious. Harrison and the rest of his family came to Oklahoma last Friday. Because I just had my gall bladder out the day before Raymond wouldn't leave me to go to the airport or dinner. Because I wanted them to meet so badly, I agreed to let them come by the house. Here are pictures of Raymond, or Uncle Mac, holding Harrison. He was so gentle and sweet. I love it!

I'm sad for Raymond that they live so far away. I hope that Harrison will grow up to realize what a fabulous unlce he has. We look forward to spending more time with the Lilje clan this week.
